 Open Source GIS projects have continued to mature over the past few years. Avencia is actively testing and developing tools for the MapServer, GeoServer and PostGIS projects.
Rich Tuttle’s research is intended to expand the range of services we can offer to our clients and has focused on developing software libraries for MapServer and PostGIS. Using these libraries, he has implemented a cultural resource mapping application for handheld devices (you can even use it with a phone!) as well an asset management system for historic markers.
